Arundo donax is the most used reed in Armenia nowadays. The harvest period is between October and February. The diameter used is between 18.50 and 21.50 mm and the length is between 8.50 and 10.50 cm. Once selected, the reed is partly peeled. The final shape is given either by immersing the reed in near boiling water, or by parboiling it and using rings which will give it its final shape.
